The Best Food in Paris without Waiting in Line at Carette, Angelina or Cédric Grolet

Paris, the city of lights, love, and, of course, tantalizing cuisine! While the queues at iconic spots like Carette, Angelina, and the realm of Cédric Grolet might seem irresistible, let’s embark on a delectable adventure to uncover hidden culinary treasures without the waiting game.

We absolutely love Paris and like many other tourists we love checking out the trendy foodspots. But most of the time this can lead to frustrating situations, since lines can be very long… and I mean very long! So we found some great alternatives for the current hotspots. Check them out.

La Maison d’Isabelle: a Better Croissant than Cédric Grolet Paris

Now, let’s step into the realm of pastries and desserts, bidding adieu to the queues at Cédric Grolet and hello to La Maison d’Isabelle. This charming patisserie tucked away in a picturesque corner of Paris offers an array of delightful pastries and sweet treats. From delicate éclairs to divine macarons and decadent cakes, every creation here is a masterpiece. Indulge in the heavenly flavors meticulously crafted by the talented artisans, without the hassle of long lines.

They won the price for the Best Croissant in 2018 and we put it to the test. Their croissant was only € 1,20, making it the cheapest freshly baked croissant we found. Knowing that the one at Cedric Grolet costs € 4,- makes it even less appealing to wait in line for an hour. Of course Cedric’s Croissant is extremely beautiful, but the flakiness, flavour and looks of the one from La Maison d’Isabelle were the best.

Umami Matcha Cafe: best alternative for Angelina Paris

While Angelina’s hot chocolate might beckon with its renowned reputation, Umami Matcha Cafe beckons with an alternative that is equally divine. Indulge in a rich, velvety cup of hot chocolate that’s not only Instagram-worthy but also an explosion of flavors. Crafted with precision and care, their hot chocolate is a blissful escape for your taste buds, making it a must-visit for any chocolate enthusiast wandering the streets of Paris. The added matcha flavour combined with the hot chocolate is so amazing, you will be blown away.

The lines outside of Angelina’s are always very long and inside you will feel rushed to order and move out again. So our alternative will give you the peace and quiet of enjoying a nice drink without feeling rushed.

Fric Frac: A Lunch Haven and alternative for Carette Paris

When hunger pangs strike, skip the lines at Carette and head straight to Fric Frac. Nestled in the heart of Montmartre Paris, this cozy bistro offers a delightful assortment of savory treats. From their mouthwatering sandwiches bursting with fresh ingredients to their scrumptious salads and homemade quiches, Fric Frac serves up a gastronomic delight that satisfies your cravings without the queue hassle.

They serve a modern twist on the iconic Croque Monsieur (also known as French Grilled Cheese Sandwhich).
We loved tasting their version. It is right there in one of our favorite areas of Paris; Montmartre. So while you are exploring all the cobble stone streets, make sure to get some lunch in Fric Frac.
