The Cadini di Misurina viewpoint offers a mesmerizing perspective of the iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Drei Zinnen / Three Peaks) in the Dolomites, promising a captivating hiking adventure amidst breathtaking landscapes.

Nestled within the UNESCO-listed Dolomites, the iconic Tre Cime (Drei Zinnen) of Lavaredo stand as a symbol of the region’s natural beauty and allure. Embarking on a hike in this breathtaking landscape requires some preparation and knowledge to make the most of your experience.

For us this was an absolute highlight of our road trip in Italy. Standing on the top of that narrow path with nothing but mountain peaks around us, was breath-taking. We want to show you how to get to the Cadini di Misurina viewpoint, so you won’t miss it!

Understanding the Route: Overview and Difficulty

Overview: The hike to the Cadini di Misurina viewpoint is a moderate to easy-level trail offering awe-inspiring vistas of the Drei Zinnen peaks and surrounding landscapes.

Difficulty: Considered moderately difficult, the trail involves varied terrain, including rocky paths and some elevation gain. Hikers with moderate fitness levels will find this route enjoyable. We would actually say that most people would be able to get up to the viewpoint. Even though the ground may be a bit gravelly, the climb is not that steap.

Starting Point: Rifugio Auronzo

Trailhead: The trail to Cadini di Misurina begins near Rifugio Auronzo, which can be reached by car or shuttle bus from Misurina. Parking is available at the rifugio.

Hike Details: Route and Highlights

Route: The trail begins near Rifugio Auronzo and is well-marked with signs leading to Cadini di Misurina. Follow trail markers (Trail #105) and signs for “Cadini di Misurina.”
When you parked your car, you will see a restaurant/shop. There you can go left to the Tre Cime (Drei Zinnen / Three peaks) on a broad path, but you want to go left on a narrow path over the grass to the right. Just follow this trail and you can’t miss it. Even though at one point the path splits in to another left or right option… both ways will get you there.

Duration: The hike typically takes around 45 minutes one way, depending on your pace and stops along the way.

Highlights: As you ascend, soak in panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes and gradually witness the awe-inspiring silhouette of the Drei Zinnen peaks. Pause at several viewpoints along the way to capture the changing vistas and savor the tranquility of the Dolomites.

We booked a room in the hotel Albergo Chalet Lago Antorno. This is literally the last hotel before entering the Tre Cime area. So you can’t get any closer. This newly renovated hotel has really cool interior design, awesome views and a gorgeous lake right in front of it. And the food is really great. You don’t need to find any other restaurant, you’re all set. Their homemade Tiramisu was the best we had on the entire 3 week trip through Italy. Click HERE to find this hotel on Booking.Com

Essential Gear and Preparation

Hiking Boots: Sturdy and comfortable hiking boots with ankle support are crucial due to uneven terrain.

Clothing: Dress in layers suitable for mountain weather conditions. Bring a waterproof jacket, hat, and gloves. Up in the mountain the temperatures are a bit lower than in the valley. So dress appropriately.

Navigation Tools: not really needed as the trail is very clear. But of course feel free to bring a navigation tool if you have one.
