This enchanting neighborhood witnessed the duo exploring their passions and discovering the depth of their feelings for each other. The group of students get out of their tourbus and start exploring the streets of one of the most iconic areas in Paris.
Montmartre’s artistic spirit infuses the air with creativity and inspiration. As Nick and Charlie wander through the quaint streets, they encounter painters capturing the essence of Paris on canvas and musicians serenading passersby with soulful melodies.
One of the most iconic locations in Montmartre is the Place du Tertre, a bustling square where artists gather to showcase their talents.
Statue of Dalida
As the group of students walk the streets of Montmartre, Darcy and Tara come across the famous Buste of Dalida. Like many tourists (us included) they couldn’t resist touching the breasts of Dalida. It is said to bring good luck in love.
Dalida, born Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti, was an iconic French-Italian singer and actress, celebrated for her powerful voice and glamorous persona. The bronze bust, located in Place Dalida, was created to honor her memory and her significant contributions to the world of music and entertainment. It serves as a poignant reminder of her enduring legacy and continues to attract fans and visitors from around the world who pay their respects to this legendary artist.

Montmartre Museum
Tao and Elle find themselves together for the first time in Paris, since they want to visit the Montmartre Museum and the rest of their group want to go somewhere else. They reconnect and get back to their friendship versions of themselves before their awkward cinema date.
The Montmartre Museum, located in the heart of the artistic Montmartre district in Paris, offers visitors a glimpse into the area’s rich history and artistic heritage. Housed in the former studio of renowned artist Suzanne Valadon, the museum showcases a collection of paintings, sculptures, and artifacts that highlight the bohemian lifestyle of Montmartre during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum’s exhibits provide an immersive experience, allowing visitors to explore the vibrant art scene and discover the fascinating stories of the artists who once called Montmartre home.
Find a hotel in the Montmartre Neighborhood
Unfortunately, Hotel Mignon used in the series is not a real hotel. But you can find yourself a great hotel in the Montmartre area and stay in the same area as your the characters from your favorite tv show.

The Steps in front of the Sacré-Coeur Cathedral
Perched atop the highest point in Paris, the Sacré-Cœur Basilica is a breathtaking sight to behold. In Heartstopper Season 2, these majestic steps leading up to the basilica become a place of reflection for Charlie and Tara. Charlie discusses he misses not being able to hold hands with Nick whilst in Paris. Tara talks about Darcy not having said she loves Tara back. Nick then joins them and brings to ice creams with chocolate dip for them.
The steps in front of the Sacré-Coeur are a must-visit spot in Paris. As you ascend the steps, you’ll feel a sense of serenity enveloping you. The tranquil atmosphere of Montmartre, the artistic district surrounding the Sacré-Cœur, adds an air of romance to the location. And don’t forget about one of the best views over Paris.
The Sacré-Cœur Basilica itself is a masterpiece of architectural splendor, with its stunning domes and intricate mosaics. Built in the Romano-Byzantine style, the basilica’s stunning white exterior and commanding dome make it a prominent landmark visible from many parts of the city. Inside, visitors can admire the intricate mosaics and impressive organ while enjoying panoramic views of Paris from its dome.
At sunset, the steps in front of the Sacré-Cœur offer a mesmerizing view of the city bathed in golden hues.

Our Pratical Tips for Visiting the Sacré-Coeur:
- Opening Times: Sacré-Cœur Basilica is open daily from early morning to late evening. The exact opening hours may vary, so it is advisable to check the official website or local information for the most up-to-date schedule.
- Costs of visiting: Entry into the Sacré-Cœur is free. If you want to climb to dome you have to pay. Current prices are mentioned on the website of the cathedral.
- Accessibility: The basilica is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. However, please note that due to its location on top of a hill, there are some stairs and inclines involved in reaching the entrance.
- Dress Code: As a place of worship, visitors are expected to dress modestly and respectfully. Sleeveless tops, shorts, and revealing clothing may not be permitted inside the basilica.
- Photography: Photography is allowed inside the basilica but without the use of flash. However, during religious services or events, photography may be restricted or prohibited.
- Services and Events: Sacré-Cœur Basilica holds regular religious services, including Masses and Vespers. These services are open to the public, and visitors are welcome to attend. The basilica also hosts special events and concerts throughout the year, adding to its cultural appeal.
- How to get there: Take the Metro to “Anvers” and walk your way up the street en climb the stairs in the park in front of the Cathedral. You can also take the Finiculaire cable car up the mountain. It is on the left of the main entrance to the park. Price for the Finiculaire is included in your multi-day metrocard.
Eating Escargots at Bistrot L’Escalier
On their first night in Paris they go out for dinner at Bistrot L’Escalier in the Montmartre district. This is where Imogen breaks up with Ben.
It is also at this restaurant where Tao bravely eats the famous snails “escargots”. Eating escargots in Paris is a true French culinary experience. These snails are a popular delicacy served in many traditional restaurants throughout the city. Cooked with garlic butter and herbs, escargots offer a rich and savory flavor that pairs perfectly with a glass of wine. The act of extracting the escargot from its shell with a small fork adds to the enjoyment of this culinary adventure. Want to see Dennis try the escargots for the first time? Check out our video of us eating Escargots in Paris.
Nick and Charlie order another staple French Dish; the Boeuf Bourguignon. Originating from the Burgundy region of France, this hearty stew features tender beef, typically braised in red wine, along with a medley of vegetables and aromatic herbs. The slow cooking process allows the flavors to meld together, creating a rich and succulent dish. Often served with crusty bread or buttery mashed potatoes, Boeuf Bourguignon is a comforting and satisfying meal.

The Eiffel Tower – Love at New Heights
No visit to Paris would be complete without a stop at the iconic Eiffel Tower. In Heartstopper Season 2, the Eiffel Tower serves as a powerful symbol of love’s ability to soar to new heights. As Nick and Charlie stand beneath the majestic iron structure, they realize that just like the tower, their love can overcome any obstacles that come their way.
The Eiffel Tower becomes a significant setting for some of the most heartwarming scenes in the show. Nick and Charlie’s ascent to the first or second floor of the tower parallels their emotional journey as they grow closer to one another. With each step, they conquer their fears and insecurities, embracing the idea that love can be a source of strength and support. Of course they could have also taken the elevator, but their teacher forgot to book that.
Surrounded by stunning panoramic views of the city’s, Nick fights back to his bullies (old friends) for the first time as he discusses with them that the hickey might actually be his. This is the beginning of the couple taking control over their own narrative. Very powerful.
As you ascend the Eiffel Tower, you too can experience the rush of emotions that the characters felt. The enchanting cityscape below and the cool breeze against your skin create an ambiance of romance and excitement. Whether you’re with a loved one or exploring solo, the Eiffel Tower offers an opportunity to embrace the beauty of life and love.
At night, the Eiffel Tower illuminates the Parisian sky with its dazzling lights, evoking a sense of enchantment and romance. The sparkling happens every hour for 5 full minutes (after sunset).

Our Practical Tips for visiting the Eiffel Tower
- How to get there option 1: The closest Metro-Station is “Bir Hakeim“. You can first see this famous (and one of the most beautiful) bridge and get some pictures of the Eiffel Tower from the bridge. Then walk you way up to the tower. On your way, stop at “Rue Buenos-Ayres” for that iconic Street-With-the-Eiffel-Tower selfie!
- How to get there option 2: You can also take the Metro to “Trocadéro” and enjoy the view over the Eiffel Tower from the famous higher-up platform and walk down the park to the foot of the tower. The walk down the park will give you plenty of great photo opportunities along the way.
- Buy Tickets in Advance: The Eiffel Tower is a major tourist attraction, so buying tickets in advance will save you time and help you avoid long lines at the ticket counters. Tickets can be purchased online, and you can choose between different levels to access.
- Choose the Right Time: Consider visiting the Eiffel Tower early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the crowds. The lines are generally shorter during these times, and you can also enjoy the tower in both daylight and when it’s beautifully lit up at night.
- Take the Stairs: If you’re reasonably fit and don’t mind some exercise, consider taking the stairs instead of the elevators. Not only is it a unique experience, but the lines for the stairs are often shorter, especially for the second level.
- Security Check: Like many popular attractions, the Eiffel Tower has strict security measures. Be prepared for a security check, so avoid carrying prohibited items such as large bags and sharp objects.
- Plan for Wait Times: Even with pre-booked tickets, there might be some wait times for security checks and elevators, especially during peak tourist seasons. Plan accordingly and be patient.
- Choose Your Level: The Eiffel Tower has three levels, and each offers a different perspective of Paris. The second level is usually less crowded than the top level and still provides a fantastic view. Decide which level you want to visit based on your preferences and time available.
The Louvre Museum in Paris
As Nick and Charlie venture through the city of Paris in Heartstopper Season 2, the Louvre Museum becomes a significant location for the group of friends. Amidst the world’s most extensive collection of art and history, Tao and Elle find themselves overlooking the iconic glass pyramid and sharing their first kiss (and second, and third.) Darcy thinks the famous Mona Lisa painting is overrated and too tiny.
One of the most poignant moments occurs when Charlies faints and Nick comes to the rescue. They have an amazing heart-to-heart talk and Charlie opens up about his emotions and how they affect his eating. The couple promises to always share everything with each other.
The Louvre Museum in Paris stands as a testament to human creativity and history. With its iconic glass pyramid entrance, the museum houses an unparalleled collection of art and artifacts spanning from ancient civilizations to the modern era. Its walls are adorned with masterpieces like the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. As the world’s largest art museum, the Louvre offers a journey through time, culture, and artistic expression. Beyond its extensive collection, the museum’s architectural grandeur and historical significance make it a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts and history buffs, providing an immersive experience that captures the essence of human artistic achievement.

Our Tips for visiting the Louvre Museum:
- Buy Tickets in Advance: To avoid long lines at the ticket counters, it’s highly recommended to purchase your tickets online in advance. The Louvre can get very crowded, so having pre-booked tickets will save you time and frustration.
- Free Admission: If you are an EU resident under 26 years old, admission to the Louvre is free. Additionally, on the first Saturday of each month, admission is free for all visitors.
- Plan Your Visit: The Louvre is huge, and it’s impossible to see everything in one day. Before your visit, decide on the specific artworks or exhibits you want to see the most, and plan your route accordingly.
- Visit Off-Peak Hours: The Louvre is busiest during the mid-morning and early afternoon. If possible, visit during the less crowded hours, like opening time or later in the afternoon.
- Entrances: The Louvre has multiple entrances. The Pyramid entrance is the most iconic, but it’s usually the most crowded. Consider using less busy entrances like Carrousel du Louvre or Porte des Lions.
- Map and Audio Guide: Grab a map at the entrance to help navigate the museum efficiently. If you want more information about the artworks, consider renting an audio guide or use the Louvre’s mobile app for informative audio tours.
- Cloakroom: The Louvre has free cloakrooms where you can store your coat and bags. It’s a good idea to lighten your load to make your museum visit more comfortable.
- Art Highlights: Don’t miss some of the Louvre’s most famous artworks, such as the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace, and Liberty Leading the People.
- Shops and Cafes: The Louvre has gift shops where you can purchase souvenirs, and several cafes and restaurants to grab a bite to eat during your visit. But we recommend heading over to the Ladurée shop in the underground shopping center at the Louvre to get some of the best Macarons in Paris. Their flavors are amazing!
Hang your lock on the Pont des Arts
The group walk the Pont des Arts (Bridge of the Arts) twice in the series. The second time Charlies wants to hang a lock with both his and Nick’s name. After having a meaningful talk with Tao about their friendship, Charlie decides to write his and Tao’s name on the lock and therewith seals their friendship for life.
The Pont des Arts in Paris is not just a bridge; it’s a symbol of love and romance. This pedestrian bridge, adorned with ornate ironwork, crosses the Seine River and offers breathtaking views of the city’s landmarks. What made it particularly famous was the tradition of couples affixing padlocks, often inscribed with their names or initials, to the bridge’s railing as a testament to their love.
While the lock tradition became so popular that it posed structural concerns, the practice was discouraged to preserve the bridge’s integrity. Despite this, the Pont des Arts remains a captivating spot where visitors can still appreciate the city’s charm and indulge in a bit of romantic nostalgia. Locks are still being hung on the bridge, but the city now removes them every now and then for safety reasons.
Back in 2014 we also hung a lock with our initials on the bridge. When we came back a year later we found our lock again!

The Seine River – Pont Neuf
The Seine River winds its way through the heart of Paris. Underneath Pont Neuf, the largest and most famous bridge in Paris, they meet up with Nick’s father. A relaxing boat cruise along the Seine will help you relive these poignant scenes and make memories of your own.

The Iconic Arc de Triomphe
Standing proudly at the western end of the Champs-Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe is a monumental symbol of love’s triumph in Heartstopper Season 2. The grandeur of the Arc and its historical significance add a touch of timeless romance to their journey.
As you walk towards the Arc de Triomphe, you’ll notice the intricate sculptures and inscriptions that celebrate France’s victories and the courage of its soldiers. In Heartstopper, this monument becomes a metaphor for the battles fought and won in the name of love.
The view from the top of the Arc de Triomphe is simply breathtaking. As you explore the surroundings of the Arc de Triomphe, take a moment to admire the eternal flame that burns in memory of the unknown soldiers, a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made for love, freedom, and peace.

Our Practical Tips for Visiting the Arc de Triomphe:
- How to get there: The nearest Metro-Station is “Kléber“, bringing you right at the famous roundabout with chaotic traffic.
- Admire from the Outside: Before going inside, take a moment to admire the Arc de Triomphe from the outside. It’s an impressive structure and offers great photo opportunities from various angles.
- Underground Tunnel: The Arc is located at the center of a large roundabout, which can be challenging to cross. Use the underground tunnel near the Avenue de la Grande Armée to access the monument safely.
- Buying Tickets : You can buy tickets at the site without any problems, but if you want to save time, consider purchasing them online in advance. This way, you can skip the ticket line and head straight to security.
- Free Admission: EU residents under 26 years old and certain other categories (such as disabled visitors and war veterans) enjoy free admission to the Arc de Triomphe.
- Panoramic View: Climb to the top of the monument for a stunning panoramic view of Paris. You’ll get to see famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Élysées, and Sacré-Cœur Basilica from a unique perspective. This is probably one of our favorite views over Paris.
- Audio Guide: Consider renting an audio guide to learn about the history and significance of the Arc de Triomphe and the events it commemorates.
- Sunset Visit: If possible, plan your visit around sunset to witness Paris illuminated by the golden hour and the city’s lights coming alive.
- Lighting Ceremony: The Arc de Triomphe has a daily lighting ceremony at 6:30 PM (except on special occasions). Take the opportunity to see the eternal flame rekindled and pay your respects to the Unknown Soldier.
- Opening Hours: Check the Arc de Triomphe’s opening hours before your visit, as they may vary depending on the season and special events.
- Keep an Eye on Your Belongings: As with any crowded tourist spot, be vigilant about your belongings, especially at the viewing platforms where pickpockets may operate.
- Accessibility: The Arc de Triomphe is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. There’s an elevator available for people with disabilities, making it easier to reach the top.
Visit Le Marais, the Queer Neighborhood of Paris
Towards the end of their visit to Paris, Nick and Charlie find themselves walking the streets of the area in Paris called Le Marais. Le Marais is known for being the most gay-friendly and where the LGBTQIA+ community thrives in Paris. They see another gay couple holding hands and for the first time decide to do the same themselves. Giving Charlie the thing he wished for when talking to Tara on the steps in front of the Sacré-Coeur at the start of their visit.
Le Marais is definitely our second favorite neighborhood in Paris, after Montmartre. Not only because its vibe is so open to the queer community, but also because of all the amazing street food and restaurants this area offers.
Le Marais in Paris is a captivating neighborhood that effortlessly marries history with contemporary flair. Its cobbled streets, narrow alleys, and well-preserved architecture transport visitors to a bygone era. Trendy boutiques, art galleries, and cozy cafes coexist alongside historic landmarks like Place des Vosges and the Hôtel de Ville.
