Where to eat in Los Cristianos in the South of Tenerife?
Los Cristianos is a charming coastal town located on the southern coast of Tenerife. It’s known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and delicious food.
Los Cristianos was once a small fishing village, but it has since grown into a bustling tourist destination. The town was named after the sailors who landed on the island in the 15th century. It’s known for its rich history and cultural heritage. The town has preserved many of its historic buildings and landmarks, including the 18th-century church of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Walking through the small streets near the beach will give you a chance to choose a restaurant with food from any country you can imagine. We found to gems that we want to share with you.
The Best Pizza in Los Cristianos at Napoli
We are kicking of our list of 5 best restaurants with a Pizza place. That might not really capture you right away. But believe us when we say this is a pizza you want to try. If you are in the South of Tenerife enjoying your beach holiday, you might just crave a good pizza. Napoli has you covered. Our Italian friend says this is the best pizza he has even tasted. Coming from an Italian that must count towards something.
Pizza’s here are made in a stone oven. They serve a real Italian style pizza with a bread like quality. The charred crust is amazing.

A Taste Explosion at Japanese, Chinese and Peruvian Fusion Restaurant Funkyllama.
Do you love Japanese food? Then take a pen right now and note this down! You have to check out Funkyllama in Los Cristianos. Their fusion kitchen let’s Japanese food meet Peruvian food and there are also Chinese influences. We were absolutely blown away by their flavors and dishes.
We started of with amazing fresh vegan gyoza. It had sweet potato inside and also a sweet potato sauce. Our taste buds instantly fell in love. Then we tasted awesome sushi and ordered a Peruvian Ceviche with Japanese influences. Our mind was blown again.
We tasted their cocktails. They definitely did not disappoint. We loved the Japanese Whisky Sour the most. We were not planning on ordering dessert, since we were quite full already. But then our eyes came across their “Chai Team Cream with Lucuma fruit sorbet”. We love everything Chai, so we went ahead and ordered it. It was so amazing. So creamy. The ice gave it a freshness and the fresh strawberries just completed the experience. We would go back for this in a heartbeat.
We hope you figured out by now that you really should put this restaurant on your list.

Do you want to taste the traditional flavors of Tenerife?
If you’re looking for a truly authentic Tenerife dining experience, you can’t miss out on visiting a Guachinche. These traditional restaurants are typically run out of the owner’s home and offer a limited menu of homemade dishes, often paired with local wine. They offer a unique and charming atmosphere that is truly unforgettable. Many locals consider Guachinches to be the center of traditional Canarian cuisine, so make sure to check one out during your stay on Tenerife.
Guachinche La Noria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Guachinches can be found all over Tenerife, with more of them located in the North part. We Found a great Guachinche in Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife. Guachinche La Noria is, like all guachinches, a simple restaurant with a menu filled with local food.
We love eating in such places; simple decor but amazing dishes that really give you the traditional flavors.
We tasted the Carne de Cabra, which is a goat stew with a very intense taste. We also tried the Huevos Estampidos (eggs and fries) and some tasty desserts.

Restaurante La Casona del Vino in Candelaria
Do you love eating where the locals eat? We definitely do. It is always a great sign that this is where you can find great food with traditional and local flavors. And we found such a hidden gem.
Restaurante La Casona del Vino is located outside the city center of the Candelaria area. It is not on any touristy route, so you will not run into it without knowing its location.
We absolutely loved the food here. Classic Canarian flavors but definitely updated with a modern twist. This is not a Guachinche. This makes the restaurant more elevated and stylish with attention for detail and plating. What we also loved was the free appetizers, like two very tasty croquetas (best we’ve ever had) and free olives.
I, Dennis, ordered the famous salty Papas Arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes; check our post on the 9 best local dishes to try on Tenerife) together with garlic rabbit. Tim, being a vegetarian, ordered a huge salad with so much flavor and covered in tasty local cheese. We loved every bite. We almost were too full to order dessert. I said almost, so we shared an amazing tres leches cake. We were in dessert heaven. After dessert they served us a free aperitivo (a sweet caramel liquor). And yes, being Dutch means loving all the free stuff included in this meal.
Needless to say, we highly recommend this restaurant for your trip to Tenerife.

Where to Eat in Santa Cruz de Tenerife?
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital city of Tenerife, and it’s known for its rich food history and vibrant culinary scene. As a port city, Santa Cruz has a long history of trade and exchange with other cultures, which has influenced its cuisine over the centuries. The city is also home to a variety of international restaurants, reflecting its history of cultural exchange. From Asian fusion to Mediterranean cuisine, Santa Cruz de Tenerife has something to offer for every palate.
We already pointed you in the direction of Guachinche La Noria in Santa Cruz. But we have a great spot for you to add to your list.
Strasse Park Restaurant in Parque Garcia Sanabria
In the top part of the stunning Parque Garcia Sanabria, a botanical highlight of Santa Cruz, you’ll find a restaurant called Strasse Park.
After a mandatory stroll through the gorgeous park with more species of cacti you can imagine, you’ll have a chance to taste some amazing food at Strasse Park. They have a balcony upstairs, a garden to sit in and an inside spot for colders days. They are opened from 9 am till midnight.
Strasse Park is famous for its amazing sandwiches, but their menu is extensive. The flavors they serve combine local favorites with temporary additions. Tim had super tasty croquetas with Almogrote, a local cheese spread you will have to try, and banana. I had the best Iberico Ham sandwich I’ve ever had. The added olive oil enhanced the flavor of the ham so much. Tim also enjoyed toasted brioch with the above mentioned Almogrote spread.
Sitting there, in between all the excotic palm trees, with all this amazing food, really gave us that holiday feeling. Check the link to their menu to get excited for visiting this restaurant.

Do you want a Bonus Tip for the best restaurants in Tenerife?
We are in a very generous mood, so we will give you a bonus tip. For free!
Churrería y Chocolatería El Guanche in Candelaria
Tenerife belongs to Spain. And when You think of Spanish Food, Churros will appear in your head at one point. We’ve had amazing filled Churros in Barcelona, but we had never tasted them the original way. This means eating a churro by dipping it into chocolate milk/sauce. The ones we had didn’t even have the sugar coating. And let me tell you, they didn’t need it at all.
Churrería y Chocolatería El Guanche in Candelaria make the churros right under your nose, fresher than fresh. And they were huge. We’ve never seen them this thick before. The outside being nice and crunchy and the inside perfectly fluffy and airy. Never dry. Never boring. And I had the best time dipping the churros into the chocolate sauce. Can you tell how excited I am? I would go back to Tenerife, just for this.
And while you are in Candelaria to taste these amazing Churros, also explore the gorgeous town itself. It has a great square and Basilica, right at the seaside.
